Revisit because I will wholesomely admit that my first opinion of the Charlie Chaplin “The Great Dictator” speech was not my own. I have thought about it and made my own opinion as I should have from the start.
I said it sounded socialistic only because I heard someone else say that. Listening to the speech more than a few more times I do not agree with that analysis anymore. The speech does talk about democracy, progress and doing away with national barriers and it does end with a “marxist” tune of “Unite!”, but here’s another way to look at it.
Between the first post with this video and now I have learned that We the Peoples nation is not only a Republic but a Democratic Republic. I have a bad habit of putting certain words into good or bad columns and that’s an unhealthy way to view words. As the sayings go; “Choose your words wisely”, “Think before you speak” and “Speak from the heart”.
Republics and democracies work well together especially within the United States Constitution. Majority rule by law, meaning We the People govern ourselves through Constitutional Law. That is Our democratic republic. Provided is a link of the Declaration of Independence where you can also find the Constitution and the Amendments:
Glenn Beck simplifies this concept in one phrase, “Maximum Free and Maximum Responsibility”
The government has taken most of our freedom and responsibility away through taxation, regulation and welfare. Charlie said it perfectly, “Dictators free themselves and enslave the people”. Believe me or not but we are slaves and the chains are only getting tighter and heavier.
Charlie was speaking from the heart in his performance. When he talks of progress he’s doesn’t mean government progress which is control of the people he means human progress, real progress. Micro Soft, Apple, Google and Face Book all too leaps and bounds into technology and have changed the world over for the better of humanity without government to over see them or regulate their actions. Yes, some of them I have mentioned crony capitalist (capitalist in bed with the government), before they changed they were capitalist.
Recently I told my mom of the private sectors efforts of space exploration, entrepreneurship and innovation. She replies back that government is the only way to get space anything down correctly. What she doesn’t realize is that back in the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s government were only ones capable to fund, research and execute missions and experiments. It was America vs Russia in the great race to space and then the moon. In the ’90s, when Soviet Russia was no more, there was the Mir Space Station. Russians and Americans working together for a common cause.
The private sector had no reason to enter the space market. Until now. Now the United States has all but abolished NASA. We borrow space crafts from Russia because ours are out of commission. Mom says to pour more money into NASA. Well we don’t have the money, the private sector does. In the private sector there is competition and where’s there is competition there is innovation.
America Doesn’t have competition anymore. The private sector will always have competition.
This blogs message, if you couldn’t tell by the picture LoL, is dream, Dream Big and Work Hard for that dream.
Each of us has a dream, be it from childhood, a few years ago or a brand new one today. Follow that dream and any obstacles in your way, and believe me there will be plenty, over come them. Whether the problem is big or small, difficult or easy over come it. In hard work comes great reward.
You read any success story and there is always hardship, failure, obstacles and yes even pain both physical and emotional. The determined individual always prevails though, always comes out on top. They see failures as learning, obstacles as goals and hardships as wins. Success will always be yours if you work for it.
The last link is Jiminy Cricket singing “When You Wish Upon A Star”. Great Disney song about following your dreams.
Follow you dreams, work hard, think, fear nothing, risk all and triumph. The only person in your way is you.
Pray, learn history, research the events going on around you and become informed.
